Miracle Thinking

Dear Friends, Worry, worry, worry, there is no end to worrying. The mind is always searching for something to do. We worry because we fear failure, fear the unknown, fear success or fear change. Toxic worry brings us out of the PRESENT moment regretting the past and worrying about the future. I should of, could of, would have said this or done that. Can I have a do over? Or nope I am not putting myself through this growth spurt. It doesn’t really matter or it’s too hard. How do we get to Miracle Thinking? If we want to expand out of our comfort zone in any area in our lives we will be feeling a bit of anxiety. That’s our reptilian brain and our nervous system keeping us safe. Recently I had a few bouts of it myself. I used all of my mindfulness tools and self-reflection to gently bring me back to center. One practice that was particularly helpful was from the following: The Book of Awakening by Mark Nepo

  • Sit quietly and consider a situation that is causing you to worry

  • Breathe slowly and as you inhale, focus on accepting what is. Try to let in both the gifts and hardships of the reality you are in.

  • Breathe evenly and you exhale, focus on releasing what is not. Try to let go of all the imagined outcomes that are not yet real.

  • Settle into the Miracle of what is

Every time we move in the direction of the miracle we open ourselves up energetically to more opportunities and more peace. Often we don’t give ourselves enough credit or take the time to notice or acknowledge our miracles and growth spurts. There are two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle, The other is as though everything is a miracle. ------ Albert Einstein So if you are worrying about something big or small in your life, take a few minutes to come back home to the miracle that you are.
